The e-Passport Evaluation Kit from SCM Microsystems is the All-in-One-Package allowing a low entry barrier for e-Passport terminal development. The kit includes an SER100 e-Passport reader, an SER Module, and our proven SDI010 dual interface reader.

It provides users the opportunity to experience the functionality of an e-Passport reader, and demonstrates SCMs flexibility to customize the device according to customer requirements.

SER100
The SER100 reads all electronic passports and ID cards quickly and reliably, while complying with the strictest data security requirements, such as BAC (Basic Access Control). The e-Passport reader is based on 13.56 MHz contactless smart card technology and reads all ISO 14443 type A and B compliant electronic documents and smart cards including Philips, Infineon, Atmel, Sharp, ST Microelectronics, Samsung, Gemalto, and others.

The high-performance SER100 is a USB reader that supports all relevant security standards. The PC/SC compliance ensures seamless integration between a Windows® environment and the contactless world. The on-board flash memory allows secure firmware upgrades during evaluation, development as well as in the field to protect the investment against obsolescense. The reader is ranked as the highest in interoperability and versatility. It successfully read all passports at the latest Interoperability Test. Therefore, the SER100 and SCMs other RFID reader entries were among the top performers.

SER Module
The SER Module from SCM Microsystems is the inner life of the SER100. It is especially provided for developers to incorporate e-Passport technology into their own designs. With the SER Module, system integrators successfully implement top-class SCM technology into their terminals and devices. During integration of the module SCM fully supports the final antenna tuning to the environment variables for a custom device.

SDI010
The SDI010 dual interface reader combines contact and contactless interface capabilities in one reader to support the growing demand for badging and other personal identification applications utilizing contactless smart cards. The combination of contact and contactless technologies in one reader allows the integration of a number of conventional single-purpose card applications into one card. For example, the same card and type of reader might be used for building access (attaching the card to the reader) and network access (inserting the card into the reader and entering a password).
The SDI010 is widely used for applications like public transport, e-Banking, to check the balance of your e-Purse, as well as for e-Passport personalization and verification.
